Fernanda Soto
Fernanda is one of Colorado's licensed legal paraprofessionals — a credential created so that everyday family-law matters can be handled at a lower cost than a full attorney engagement, by someone the state has authorized to do exactly that work.
I am a Colorado Licensed Legal Paraprofessional. The LLP credential is a relatively new Colorado certification designed to expand access to family-law representation: the state has authorized LLPs to handle a defined scope of family-law matters directly, at a lower cost than a full attorney engagement. I chose this path because I wanted to serve clients — particularly Spanish-speaking clients — who need real legal help on family matters but are priced out of attorney representation. I also support the firm's pro-bono work with the Immigrant and Refugee Center of Northern Colorado.
There is a clear line between what I handle directly and what I escalate. Uncontested divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities in many cases, modifications, and document review — these are within my scope and my authorization. Contested asset division, domestic-violence cases, and matters with cross-border or immigration components — these I escalate to a Novo attorney. The chooser logic on our family-law page reflects this distinction so clients know what to expect before they even book.
If you are a Spanish-speaking family looking for someone who can review your documents in your language, walk you through the process, and tell you honestly when a matter needs an attorney instead of an LLP — book with me. I will handle what I can, escalate what I cannot, and your case stays inside the firm either way.
What I take on, and what I don't.
