Anahi, a first-generation Latina law student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, is passionate about empowering communities facing systemic barriers. As the daughter of immigrants, she has a keen focus on immigration law and aims to use her legal education to tackle complex challenges for individuals and communities.

Caitlyn is a Colorado native and the daughter of an immigrant father, she has always had an interest in immigration. After graduating, she hopes to pursue a career in immigration law.
Caroline Turner

Caroline graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2019. Her first exposure working in immigration was during her undergraduate career where she worked with refugees and became passionate about immigration law.
Cindy Tsuei
Fall 2020 - Postgrad
Cindy is a graduate of Penn State Law. As a student attorney at the Penn State Family Law Clinic, she represented victims of domestic abuse, and other individuals with family law disputes such as divorce and custody.
Collin Cannon
Summer 2022-Spring 2023
Collin is currently in his final year of law school at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Upon finishing his degree, Collin hopes to practice immigration law or international human rights law.
Daniel Simon
Summer 2023
Studying English at the University of Missouri, Daniel taught ESL to diverse age groups and nationalities. Post-graduation, he continued in education at Arrupe Jesuit High School, Denver. Inspired by unique immigrant experiences, he pursued law at the University of Denver, and in 2023 joined Novo Legal to learn and contribute to dedicated legal work.
Danielle Herman

Prior to entering law school, she taught kindergarten with Denver Public Schools. Danielle is passionate about advocacy for children and was able to focus this interest at Novo by working with the youngest clients.

Edgar Chavarria

Edgar graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2018. His first exposure working in immigration law was during his 1L summer externship, and since then he's known that is what he wants to focus on.
Emma Carroll
Summer 2021
Emma hopes to pursue a career in immigration law. While at Novo, she researched a number of novel and relatively unexplored immigration issues and drafted several motions, RFEs, and briefs.
Esther Kim

Esther is has always had an interest in immigration law, and Novo Legal has been her first step into the experience. She hopes to be able to use the concepts and skills learned throughout her legal career.
Hyung Jang

Hyung, a rising 2L at Seattle University School of Law, founded the International & Immigrant Student Association. As president, he aims to support the international community at the school. With a keen interest in immigration law, Hyung is committed to harnessing his legal education to make a significant contribution to the community.
Jocelyne Vasquez-Alas
Spring 2023
Jocelyne, a first-generation immigrant from El Salvador, was inspired by her own immigration experience to study law at CU Law. Her work includes advocating for immigrants through DACA renewals, Advance Parole, SIJS, and asylum applications. Jocelyne enjoys reading LGBTQ+ novels and spending time outdoors in her leisure time.
Mildred Alvarez

Born in Mexico and having lived globally, Mildred developed an understanding of immigration struggles. This led her to a law career, focusing on immigration. Now a rising 3L at Colorado Law School, she’s actively involved in immigration issues and aims to advocate for immigrant rights post-graduation.

Sarah Sorenson
Summer 2023
Sarah, a law student at the University of Colorado, has a Master’s in Bilingual Special Education and experience in the nonprofit sector. She's volunteered with immigrant rights groups for years and serves as VP of CU Law's Immigration Society. She looks forward to furthering her immigration law knowledge with Novo Legal.
Skylar Larson

In addition to interning at Novo Legal, Skylar served as a student attorney with the Immigration Law & Policy Clinic. She is passionate about immigrants’ rights and Novo has given her the opportunity to fight alongside our clients.
Tyler Beckum
Summer - Fall 2023
Tyler, a 3L at Seattle University School of Law, honed her interest in immigration law through an internship with asylees and refugees. Tyler is keen to further explore the intricacies of immigration law. She's collaborated with the Fred T. Korematsu center on race bias issues and currently serves as the VP of the International Law Society. In law school, she's emphasized civil rights and appellate work with aspirations to influence policy.

As a rising 3L at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Tyler blends sports leadership and legal prowess. A former NCAA athlete, he's now part of the Moot Court team, achieving national recognition. Outside class, he loves skiing, hiking, cooking, and "Better Call Saul."
Victoria Venzor

Victoria grew up in Colorado Springs. She is currently a 2L at the University of Colorado Law School. She was led to law school in hopes of becoming an advocate for others, something that Novo Legal has allowed me to do.
Vivian Oguejiofor
Spring 2023
Vivian, a Houston native, studied Anthropology and Global Health at the University of Washington. After teaching in Madrid for two years, she returned to pursue law at her alma mater. As a daughter of Nigerian immigrants, Vivian is passionate about advocating for immigrant rights and plans to practice immigration law after graduation.
Amy Lorde
Before focusing on civil rights and public interest law at Denver University, Amy (Lorde) worked at the Office of the Public Defender, directed a nonprofit that fundraised for the Human Rights Campaign, and provided case management to a Colorado foster care agency. While at DU, they volunteered with the International Rescue Committee, worked as a lead student-attorney on a clemency case in the Criminal Defense Clinic, and currently serves on the Executive Board of the Denver Law Review.
Lex Schwartzman
Summer 2025
As a rising 3L at the University of Colorado Boulder, Lex mentors students, leads orientation, and serves as VP of the Jewish Law Student Association and President of the Honor Council. Lex has clerked for the Boulder District Courts and the Colorado Court of Appeals and will argue a civil rights appeal before the 10th Circuit and enjoys concerts, reading and hiking.
Ivett Martinez
Summer 2025
Ivett Martinez, originally from Southern California, is a rising 2L at Seattle University School of Law whose upbringing in a mixed-status household inspired her to begin practicing immigration law in 2019 with a focus on removal defense. She brings that real-world experience into her studies and serves as National Competition Co-Chair for the Moot Court Board. Ivett also volunteers with the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington’s immigration clinics. She’s passionate about advocacy, litigation, and protecting the rights of immigrant communities.
Hannah Eberts
Spring 2026
Hannah is a third-year law student at Gonzaga University School of Law. During her three years, she has served as Executive Editor of the Journal of International Law and completed two semesters with the Gonzaga Immigration Clinic, with a focus on youth advocacy. Upon graduation, Hannah intends to practice immigration law.
