When Danielle Jefferis showed up at the Aurora Contract Detention Facility in Aurora, Colorado, last weekend during visiting hours, she expected nothing more than a routine legal visit with a client.
Instead, Jefferis, an attorney at Novo Legal and fellow at the University of Denver Civil Rights Clinic, was turned away by officers who told her her client couldn’t leave the pod because the facility was under quarantine.
