Talya was born in San Francisco, CA. Born to immigrant parents; her father from Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, and her mother from San Salvador, El Salvador. Talya has seen firsthand how immigration policies have affected her loved ones. In 2017, Talya first began her career in the immigration law field. Since then, Talya has aided the immigrant community by being a member of the UW Tacoma Pre-Law Society, in which she volunteered for a DACA clinic in 2019. Having graduated from the University of Washington with her BA, Criminal Justice, Talya hopes to return to school this year and continue her education. She would like to obtain her Master’s degree in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Research and Evaluation.
