Kassie is a native to the Seattle area. As a first-generation Mexican-American growing up in a mixed status family, she’s able to relate to the uncertainty, anxiety, and desperation the lack of legal status creates. In 2019, she graduated from the University of Washington, in Seattle, with a double-major in American Ethnic Studies and Sociology, and a triple-minor in Diversity, Spanish, and Law, Societies & Justice. She was awarded the Academic Achievement Scholarship and the Global Opportunities Scholarship during her undergraduate career. In 2018, she also took up the opportunity to study abroad in Greece through the Jackson School of International Studies, where she spent two months learning about immigration and tourism and conducted research on the Roma community. Kassie’s experiences, in conjunction with her academic knowledge, have heavily influenced her goal of helping individuals from underrepresented communities.
